Getting to Casares del Mar from Málaga Airport

By Car:

  1. Start at Málaga Airport (Costa del Sol Airport):

    • Exit the airport and follow signs for MA-20 and A-7, which is the main highway running along the Costa del Sol.

  2. Take the AP-7 or A-7 toward Marbella/Algeciras:

    • After about 10 minutes, you’ll see signs for the AP-7 toll road and A-7 coastal road. Both routes lead to Casares, but AP-7 is faster (around 1 hour), while A-7 offers a scenic, toll-free drive (about 1 hour and 20 minutes).

  3. Follow the A-7/Autovía del Mediterráneo:

    • Whether on AP-7 or A-7, continue past Marbella, San Pedro de Alcántara, and Estepona.
    • After passing Estepona, stay on A-7.

  4. Exit at KM 147 for Casares:

    • After about 15 minutes past Estepona, take the exit at KM 147 toward Casares Playa. Follow signs to “Casares del Mar” on the coastal side of the road.

  5. Arrive at Casares del Mar:

    • Continue on the local road for a few minutes, and you’ll reach Casares del Mar. Look out for the signs for your apartment complex, located near the beach.

Estimated Drive Time: 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes, depending on the route (AP-7 toll or A-7 coastal road).

By Public Transportation:

  1. Take the Train to Fuengirola:

    • From Málaga Airport, take the C1 Cercanías train (local train) from the airport station to Fuengirola. This trip takes around 35 minutes.

  2. Transfer to Bus from Fuengirola to Estepona:

    • From Fuengirola, take an Avanza bus or other regional service heading to Estepona. The bus ride from Fuengirola to Estepona is around 1 hour.

  3. Take a Taxi or Local Bus to Casares del Mar:

    • From Estepona bus station, you can take a short taxi ride (about 15 minutes) directly to Casares del Mar or look for a local bus toward Casares Playa.
